Root For Boston Challenge

Join Grow Boston Greener and AmericanExpress® to help add more trees to Boston’s urban canopy.  As part of Grow Boston Greener efforts to increase the city’s tree canopy from 29% to 35% by planting 100,000 trees by 2020, the City of Boston is participating in an AmericanExpress tree campaign challenge.

American Express has included Boston in an eight-city challenge to share in $1 million in tree-planting grants.  Boston is already slated to receive $100,000 in the ROOT FOR OUR CITY CHALLENGE with the opportunity to win an additional $200,000 if enough American Express® Cardmembers join the effort to help bring more trees to our streets.

Here’s what you can do.  Simply pay with any American Express® Card when you see the ROOT FOR BOSTON tree icon displayed at participating businesses to vote for Boston from September 22 through October 31, 2008. The city with the most votes gets the most green [funding for trees].

So look for the tree, use any American Express Card and vote for Boston.  It’s that easy to help make a difference.
