2014 DoIT Fellows

The 2014 Summer DoIT Fellows Project is to preserve the integrity of the housing environment through a simple interface. Currently we are working on a website that will use public data pertaining to crime, code violations, and complaints to assess neighborhood safety and compliance with the housing standards. Specific sets of data will be plotted on a heat map to give users a clear understanding of what is happening in the city and more specifically in their neighborhoods. Pinpointing specific locations, users will also be able to generate a property score. This interface will be a great way for people, especially students, to make a more informed decision when searching for housing. We hope to generate more interaction with students through other features of the site so that the city can understand their needs and better solve their problems.
