The Public Works Department provides a quality environment for the City of Boston and ensures that the City's roadways, streets and bridge infrastructure are safe, clean, and attractive.
Boston residents can safely dispose of hazardous waste for free on June 22 and June 29. Drop-offs are for Boston residents only and no commercial waste will be accepted. Note: Latex paint is no longer accepted at hazardous waste events because it is not hazardous. Let latex paint dry out completely, then set out with your regular trash.
During the winter months, the freeze / thaw cycle can cause pavement to crack so that it deteriorates quickly under the weight of traffic.
