Tax Title Division

Sean Nehill, Senior Assistant Corporation Counsel

On behalf of the Collector-Treasurer’s Office, the Tax Title Division assists with the City’s collection of property taxes. If the Collector-Treasurer’s Office issues a tax taking and the taxpayer fails to remit full payment, the Collector-Treasurer will prepare a petition to foreclose all rights of redemption.  Division personnel review and then file the petition with the Land Court. After filing, Division personnel ensure that all interested parties are served, respond to any Land Court directives, appear at all Land Court hearings, and otherwise undertake all tasks required to move tax title matters to judgment.
