The Inspectional Services Department (ISD) is comprised of five regulatory divisions whose aim is to protect and improve the quality of life for all Boston residents by effectively administering and enforcing building, housing, health, sanitation and safety regulations mandated by City and State governments.

    Rental Inspection Program Registration

    All private rental units must be registered with the City on an annual basis. The deadline for registration of rental units has been extended until August 31, 2013.

    Effective Friday, February, 1, 2013, The Inspectional Services Department can no longer accept the Use of Premises applications for Residential Parking before Public Works Department approval.
