The Inspectional Services Department (ISD) is comprised of five regulatory divisions whose aim is to protect and improve the quality of life for all Boston residents by effectively administering and enforcing building, housing, health, sanitation and safety regulations mandated by City and State governments.
Rental Seminar August 21st
In an effort to promote safe, sanitary and code compliant rental units, the City of Boston has amended the Rental Inspection Ordinance, requir-ing the annual registration of all private rental units and inspection of all non-exempt rental unit(s) at least once every 5 years. This seminar will educate the public on the Rental Ordinance requirements as well as housing code violations.
Free Summer Landlord Seminars
Mayor Walsh and ISD invite the public to a free overview of off-campus housing and the amended rental ordinance. Summer dates are June 19, July 17, and August 21 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.
The meetings will be held at 1010 Massachusetts Ave from 6-7:30PM. Limited seats are available.
Change to Use of Premises Application Process
Effective Friday, February, 1, 2013, The Inspectional Services Department can no longer accept the Use of Premises applications for Residential Parking before Public Works Department approval.
