The City of Boston's Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) in collaboration with National Grid and Action for Boston Community Development, Inc (ABCD) announces the HeatWorks program. HeatWorks is designed to lessen the number of heating system emergencies affecting senior citizens during severe winter months.
The Department of Neighborhood Development has partnered with National Grid and Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD), to create HeatWorks, a program designed to make sure that Boston's most vulnerable senior citizens take care of their heating systems.
Eligible Participants May Receive:
- ABCD Energy Audit
- Weatherization /Insulation
- Replacement of broken heating system with an energy efficient one
- Technical assistance from DND construction specialists
Available Repair Assistance: Heating system replacement including conversion from
oil furnace to gas furnace - and replacement of malfunctioning heating system components.
All work will be performed by an approved licensed and insured contractor.
Eligible Homeowners: Senior homeowners who are 60 years of age and older, who
are owner-occupants of a residential 1-4 family property in the City of Boston, and whose
income doe not exceed 80% of median family income as determined by HUD ($52,950 for a
2-person household).
