Announced by Mayor Menino in the summer of 2008, the Mid-Dorchester Action Plan is a joint planning initiative of the Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) and the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA), designed to coordinate the strategic disposition of public property located around the Dorchester neighborhoods of Four Corners, Bowdoin-Geneva, and Codman Square. The City of Boston currently owns as many as 270 vacant properties, totaling over 1.2 million square feet, in and around these particular areas.

Furthermore, City officials are coordinating with the MBTA since the Fairmount Corridor Improvement Project, which stretches between South Station and Hyde Park’s Readville neighborhood, also runs directly through the Mid-Dorchester Action Plan focus area.   

To date, 26 parcels have been made available for sale through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process, with another 35 expected to be advertised for sale in the coming months. A complete list can be found here.
