Owned by Dermot Doyne for 13 years Penguin Pizza in the heart of Brigham Circle had been providing mouthwatering pizzas in a funky relaxed environment where "everybody knows your name." The bar specializes in carrying well over 100 varieties of beer and is decorated with (of course) penguins and with an array of engraved glass mugs belonging to a club of beer aficionados whose membership is predicated by partaking of a number of various beer brands over time. Dozens of community and charitable events are held at Penguin which has become a center of the social life of the eclectic mix of Mission Hill residents and folks who work and study in the Longwood Medical area. The food is ample and tasty, but most people come because of its friendly casual ambiance. Irish born and London raised publican Dermot Doyne states, "I take this annual design challenge seriously and this year's window features the Mission Hill skyline with Santa-penguin's sleigh being pulled by reindeer-penguins delivering hot pizza pies to all the good penguin-children of Mission Hill."
