Application Process for Hosting Raffles and Bazaars

Application process for hosting events such as raffles, bazaars, or Las Vegas Nights in the City of Boston.

Requirements

The group sponsoring the event must be a registered NON-PROFIT organization registered with the Massachusetts Secretary of State's Office for the past two (2) years. To apply for a permit, the group must submit:

  1. A current copy of its Articles of Organization (a copy can be obtained from the Massachusetts Secretary of State's Office).

  2. A $30.00 Filing Fee required in the form of money order payable to the City of Boston or cash if paying in person at the City Clerk's Office, Room 601.

  3. A copy of the ISD Occupancy Permit for the location where the event is being held (required if 25 or more individuals will be at the event).

  4. A copy of the Fire Assembly Permit (required if 25 or more individuals will be at the event).

  5. The contract agreement for equipment utilized only if the group is holding a Las Vegas Night or Texas Hold'Em event (required if 25 or more individuals will be at the event).

  6. Completed application and Notice of Issuance of Raffle and/or Bazaar forms.

  7. A completed Event Report Form (attached to the Raffle Application) within one (1) year of the date of the event. Raffle/Bazaar/Las Vegas Night permit renewals will not be granted until previous year's report is filed.

The non-profit group is also required to make arrangements for a paid police detail for all Las Vegas Night, Bazaar, or Texas Hold'Em events. A listing of Boston's Police Districts is attached to the application for your information.

How to Submit

Applications must be submitted in person or by mail to the City Clerk's Office no later than 30 days prior to the event.
