Park Arts

In 1996, the Parks Department established a program that makes the arts accessible to all people in our parks and brings culture directly into Boston's neighborhoods. ParkARTS has grown to include a full palette of offerings ranging from photography workshops to Shakespeare on the Common.

Every summer ParkARTS hosts free participatory and performing arts events in Boston parks.

Participants have painted their favorite park landscapes in watercolor, learned how to best photograph local park wildlife, improved their crafting skills for free, and more.

Over the summer the parks are transfomed into music venues where latin groups, swing bands, and full orchestras share the stage. Puppet shows are sure to delight and movie nights occur weekly, so make sure to spend some quality time with the Boston parks this summer!
