Boston Centers for Youth & Families Pool Closures
As of Friday, December 19, 2008, all Boston Centers for Youth & Families' (BCYF) swimming pools except for the Curtis Hall Community Center pool in Jamaica Plain will be closed until they are in compliance with the newly-enacted Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) Federal Law for pool main drain covers. The closures are happening because the new main drain covers for most public pools, including those in Boston, were not approved for manufacture by the CPSC until last month. It is anticipated that most BCYF pools will re-open in January but some pools need more extensive work before the drain can be installed and will be closed longer.
