ROBERT S. CPL PLUNKETT

Robert Stephen Plunkett United States Marine Corps 27 April, 1948 – 28 January, 1968 Robert Stephen Plunkett was born on April 27, 1948 in Boston. A resident of Randolph, MA, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 3, 1966 and began active duty the same day. In the Marines, he served as a Private, and Lance Corporal, with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment. On January 28, 1968, while fighting in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, Corporal Plunkett was killed in action by enemy fire. For his sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. Robert is buried in St. Randolph’s Cemetery in Randolph and was survived by his parents Joseph and Julia. His name can be found, memorialized, on Panel 35E, Row 46 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
