Robert A Griffin United States Marine Corps 26 February 1944 – 5 August 1968 Robert A Griffin was born on February 26, 1944 in Boston. As a resident of Dorchester, Robert enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on October 16, 1967 and began active duty that same day. Robert served as Private First Class with the 1st Marine Division, 2nd Battalion, 27th Marines, and Company E. He was KIA on August 5, 1968 in Quang Nam Province, Republic of Vietnam as a result of fragmentation wounds to the head and body from a hostile explosive device while on a patrol. For the heroism displayed in his service to our country, Robert was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Robert was survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Griffin residents of Dorchester.
