Ernest Richstein United States Army 8 December 1924 – 3 April 1945 Ernest Richstein was born on December 8, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts and resided in Dorchester. Ernest graduated from Boston Trade School in 1943. He was inducted into the United States Army to fight in World War Two on March 17, 1943 and began active duty that same day. Ernest was a Private First Class in the 775th Tank Battalion. On April 3, 1945, PFC Richstein was killed in action at the age of 20, while his company was engaged in liberating the survivors of the Bataan Death March. Ernests’ brother Albert was liberated while another brother, Norman, was fighting in the same area. Ernest was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart. He was buried/memorialized at Kaminker Cemetery, West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Ernest Richstein was survived by his parents Samuel Joseph Richstein and Bessie Richstein, as well as his brothers.
