Gordon E. Denton United States Army November 1897 – 31 October 1918 Gordon E. Denton was born in November of 1897 and resided in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Gordon Denton enlisted in the United States Army on May 8, 1917. Corporal Denton served in Battery C of the 101st Field Artillery, 26th Infantry Division(Yankee Division), during World War I. Gordon was a part of the second division of the American Expeditionary Forces to arrive at the Western Front at the time. Corporal Denton was killed in action near Verdun, on October 31, 1918, only days before the Armistice ended the war in Europe. Gordon was 20 years old at the time. Gordon Denton was honored by his friends and comrades with a Baptismal Font at the Pilgrim Trinitarian Congregational Church. Gordon is memorialized on the 26th Division Tablets.
