Edgardo Zayas was born on June 6, 1977 in Dorchester, MA. Zayas served as a Specialist during Operation Iraqi Freedom, assigned to the 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, and the 101st Airborne Division. On August 26, 2006 Edgardo was killed in action by the injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol during combat operations in Baghdad. Edgardo Zayas was survived by his wife Suheil Zayas and two children.
