Howard L. Vose United States Marine Corps 1 March 1894 – 8 October 1918 Howard L. Vose was born on March 1, 1894 and resided in Boston, Massachusetts. Howard entered the United States Marine Corps from MA to fight in World War One. He was a Second Lieutenant in 55th Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 4th Brigade. The Battalion fought during the Battle of Belleau Wood, Soissons, and the Meuse-Argonne campaign and were twice awarded the French Croix de Guerre with Palm. It was during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive that 2LT Vose received wounds that would kill him on October 8, 1918 at the age of 24. Howard L Vose is buried/memorialized at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Plot A, Row 13, Grave 17, in Belleau, France. He was survived by his parents John Vose(1874-1938) and Ida E. Vose(1874-1944) and his siblings Gladys Orne Vose(1898-1938) and Richard Mearlin Vose(1911-1939).
