James W. Tolman United States Army Unknown – 28 October 1918 James W. Tolan resided in Dorchester, Massachusetts before he joined the United States Army. James was an Officer NCO in the 26th Division, 102nd Machine Gun Battalion during World War One. During the middle of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive(Sept. 26–Nov. 11, 1918), on October 28, 1918, James was killed in action. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart and is memorialized at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Plot F, Row 39, Grave 13 in Romagne, France.
