Horace G. Ruiz United States Army Unknown – 10 February 1945 Horace G. Ruiz was born in Massachusetts where he resided until he entered the United States Army. Horace was a Private in the 78th Infantry Division, 309th Infantry Regiment and served in the European theater of World War Two. While in Belgium, the Division led multiple assaults on Belgium towns such as Kesternich on February 2nd, Schmidt on the 8th, and captured the Schwammenauel Dam on February 9th. It was on the 10th of February, 1945 that Private Ruiz was killed in action. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart and is memorialized at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Plot C, Row 15, Grave 29, in Henri-Chapelle, Belgium.
