MICHAEL P. QUINN

Michael Patrick Quinn United States Marine Corps 27 May, 1946 – 29 August, 1969 Michael Patrick Quinn was born on May 27, 1946 in Boston. Nicknamed “Quohog”, he was a proud resident of Charlestown. He excelled in academics, attending St. Francis de Sales Grammar School, Boston Latin School, and the College of the Holy Cross. During his time at Boston Latin School and Holy Cross, he also played hockey and football, becoming All-City in both sports and co-captain of the Holy Cross hockey team. While at Holy Cross, he enrolled in ROTC, and after graduating Class of 1968 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree, he began active duty in the Marines. In the Marines, he served as a Lieutenant with Company H, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. As a platoon commander, he was well-liked and respected by those around him. On August 19, 1969, while serving in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, Lieutenant Quinn was killed in action by enemy fire.
