Mayor Thomas M. Menino today released results of an Innovation District jobs report showing more than 200 new companies and 4,000 new jobs have moved to the District since it was launched in January 2010. The growth is spread across a variety of business sectors with a diverse range of small, mid-scale, and large companies. Innovation District expansion will continue with more than 2,500 new jobs already announced. Today’s report (attached) was developed in coordination with the Boston Redevelopment Authority and details Innovation District job growth and companies arriving since 2010.

“Dynamic companies want to be part of Boston’s innovation community, and part of our larger community,” Mayor Menino said. “They want to make contributions to the community through their expertise, time, and resources. I have never in 20 years been more optimistic about Boston’s future. We are setting trends, not following them.”
