Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism & Special Events present an exhibition of landscape paintings by Boston artist Claire Elliot. The exhibition will be on display August 12 – September 30, 2013 in the Mayor’s Gallery on the fifth floor of City Hall.

Boston & Beyond, landscape paintings by Claire Elliot

Claire Elliot’s landscapes are rich in color and possess a strong, powerful sense of forms. The paintings exhibited are direct and deliberate yet exude a lyrical narrative quality.

Elliot is currently a Master of Fine Arts Candidate at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. In 2007 she received her undergraduate degree Cum Laude in French from Skidmore College with honors in Studio Art. While at Skidmore, Elliot was inducted into the Periclean Academic Honor Society, and the National French Honor Society, Pi Delta Phi. She has exhibited her work in Philadelphia, Seattle, and Boston. Elliot’s paintings are also featured in several private collections.

Each time we access a memory it is recreated in order to be available for the future; because of this, recollections can become fragile, combined, and fluid. With this in mind, I am attempting to define and communicate the lucidity and ambiguity of my memories.”
