The Division of Health Inspections conducts inspections on licensed food establishments.
The Mayor's Food Court provides consumers with information about Boston's restaurants so that they can make informed decisions about where they will eat. For restaurant professionals, proper food handling and management practices are provided to ensure delivery of quality food service to consumers.
Types of establishments regulated include:
Retail food stores
Day care facilities
Recreational camps for children
Swimming pools and baths
All licensed establishments are inspected at least once per year. Establishments found to be at higher risk will receive multiple inspections throughout the year. Inspectors respond to all complaints such as unsanitary conditions and illness in licensed premises.
