Brief description of business:

Voted “Best Neighborhood Shop” by Boston Magazine and tucked away in the heart of Roslindale Village, the store has playful and thoughtful arrangements of antiques, jewelry, fine art and funky art, books, cards, ribbons, candies, scarves and slippers, and a wild array of “irresistible unnecessaries.” This is a store the imagination relishes, a store full of surprises and treasures, the place to find the perfect gift; to have a friendly, spirited chat; to spark an idea; to gratify the senses; to make the day a happier one. Be sure to stop in for one of our lively (and now legendary) in-store events, featuring writers, artists - even yodeling teachers.

As a small business owner, describe why it is important to you to have people shop local in Boston’s neighborhoods during the holiday season?

The support of the community over the years is what has made us the success that we are today. We opened our shop in 2000, and have since developed a wonderful, loyal group of customers from near and far. If it weren’t for Roslindale’s strong sense of community, we would not have the vibrant business district that we have today.
