In an effort to promote the health, safety, and well-being of your pet, the City of Boston requires all dog owners to license their pet on a yearly basis.
It's the law.
If your pet ever gets lost and ends up in a shelter, a current license on your dog is his/her ticket to getting home.
Dog licensing helps the City maintain current data on the identification and the number of dogs in Boston and helps to control the potential spread of rabies.
$15 for spayed/neutered dogs
$30 for intact dogs
Dog Licenses are valid from April 1st - March 31st of each year
