BCYF Programs & Events

BCYF provides a variety of programs and opportunities to enhance the quality of life and meet neighborhood interest and need for all Boston residents. BCYF operates a network of 29 community centers, 19 pools and one beach to provide a wide range of affordable activities including school-aged and adult education, family literacy, high school equivalency exam preparation and testing, youth employment, violence prevention and intervention, senior activities, recreation and enrichment.

    BCYF SUPERTeens Program

    Do you have what it takes to be a SUPERTeen? SUPERTeens offers youth ages 13-14 a summer leadership experience through working at a BCYF community center, participating in weekly workshops, and going on fun and educational excursions.

    Want to be a BCYF Lifeguard?

    Want to be a lifeguard for BCYF?  We are looking for Lifeguards, Head Lifeguards, Supervisors, and Waterfront Lifeguards for indoor pools, outdoor pools, and a beach for summer 2016.  Please see the flyer for details and schedule your swim test today!

    Snap Shot Summer Photography Program Now Accepting Applications

    This summer employment program introduces participants to all aspects of photography. Led by a professional photographer the program includes opportunities to conduct “photo shoots” around Boston, visit museums and art galleries, dedicated computer lab time to edit digital photos, weekly personal development workshops led by John Hancock, and the responsibility of serving as a “staff photographer” at various events for Boston Centers for Youth & Families.

    BCYF offers Camp Joy for Boston residents ages 3 to 22 with disabilities and their siblings. The four-week summer camp provides structured, daily opportunities for participants to make new friends, have fun, learn, and grow during the summer months.

    HiSET Exam Testing Information (formerly the GED)

    The new HiSET Exam (formerly the GED) for Massachusetts High School Equivalency is now in place.  This new exam is computer based (taken on a computer) and BCYF is one of the first places in Massachusetts to offer this exam.

    PLEASE NOTE: All registration is online.  There will no longer be registration at the BCYF Administrative Offices.

    BCYF Teen Programs & Events

    16 BCYF community centers have teen-friendly spaces and programming specifically designed by and for teens. These are spaces to connect with others, participate in a range of programs, and enjoy unstructured time having fun, hanging out, doing homework, getting assistance with job searches, and more.


    Last year over 8,000 Boston teens participated in BCYF teen programming.
