What is the MYC Youth Fitness Challenge?:
In efforts to promote physical activity and healthy living for teens, the Mayor’s Youth Council, in conjunction with Boston Centers for Youth and Families and the Boston Public Health Commission, is hosting the Mayor’s Youth Council Youth Fitness Challenge. The mayor and the MYC neighborhood representatives are excited about offering teenagers in Boston the opportunity to take advantage of a unique health fair experience. At the event, teen participants will be able to sample various types of physical activity, participate in fitness challenges, try new healthy foods, learn how to create healthy snacks, and earn prizes for their participation.
Who Should Accept the Challenge?:
Teens ages 13-19
When is the Challenge?:
Saturday, June 1, 2-4pm (doors open at 1:30pm)
Where is the Challenge?:
Madison Park Recreation Center located at 55 Malcom X Boulevard, Roxbury
Why Should I Accept the Challenge?:
Participants will have the opportunity to:
try out group fitness exercises like capoeira, bootcamp, zumba, and kickboxing
participate in solo fitness challenges like push up stations and hula hooping contests
create and sample healthy snacks from local chefs
climb a rock wall (must bring waiver signed by a parent/guardian to participate:
MYC Fitness Challenge Waiver)
learn about the many health and fitness programs offered in Boston
WIN PRIZES like an Xbox Kinect, iPods, memberships to Boston Centers for Youth & Families community centers, workout music from Zumix, and MORE
meet new people and have a great time
How Can I Accept the Challenge?
To attend, teens should register now by visiting www.mycfitnesschallenge.eventbrite.com.
**For a chance to climb the rock wall, ALL teens must present a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.
