The Boston Transportation Department has a set goal of improving traffic conditions and keeping the City of Boston accessible. The City hopes to reduce traffic congestion and minimize the number of single occupancy vehicles traveling into the City. BTD has created seven reserved vanpool boarding zones throughout the City to help you travel quickly and conveniently during rush hour traffic. Look for the Vanpool Boarding Zone signs - they guarantee you a reserved space to pick up passengers. The sign will also tell you when and for how long these zones may be used. The spaces are for the exclusive use of boarding vanpool passengers. These zones, which are strategically placed outside Boston's popular work destinations, guarantee vanpool drivers a five to ten minute reserved space to pick up passengers.
