Annual Homeless Census
Each December the City of Boston conducts an annual homeless census including a count of people living on the street and those in shelter.

The census provides critical information on the scope of the problem of homelessness faced in our city.

This year's census is on the night of Monday, December 15, 2008 from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.

Register Online to Volunteer with the Census
Volunteers are needed to assist with the night time street count. Volunteers are organized into teams of between 5-10 people with a team leader and assigned to cover one of 33 areas of the city by foot or by car. Past volunteers have included homeless service providers, consumers, housing advocates, local faith-based organizations, City of Boston employees, City Year and other neighborhood and community groups.

Please join us for the 2008 census and volunteer to be on a street count team!
