Requests for Proposals

Portfolio Monitoring and Securities Litigan Services

The State-Boston Retirement System is seeking proposals from qualified law firms to provide portfolio monitoring and any associated evaluation and counseling services, as well as securities litigation services on a contingency/no cost basis to the System. The State-Boston Retirement System is a governmental defined benefit pension fund with approximately $5.4 billion in assets and serves approximately 34,000 active and retired members/beneficiaries from all City of Boston departments, as well as the Boston Redevelopment Authority, Boston Housing Authority, Boston Public Health Commission, and Boston Water & Sewer Commission.

All investments made by the State-Boston Retirement System are subject to the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 32, as amended by Chapter 176 of the Acts of 2011, and the rules and regulations of the Public Employees Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC), 840 CMR. The selected firm must have familiarity and agree to comply with all applicable laws and PERAC regulations. The Board reserves the right to cancel or reject in whole or part any or all proposals in the best interest of the System.

Legal Services

The State-Boston Retirement System is seeking proposals to provide legal services regarding a civil litigation matter involving discrimination claims under M.G.L. c. 151B, M.G.L. c. 93 section 103 and Article 114 of the Massachusetts Constitution currently pending in Suffolk Superior Court.  Applicants should be experienced in matters related to Massachusetts employment law.

    Meetings will be held the third Wednesday of every month commencing at 10:00 AM.

  • Important Changes to Certain Social Security Services

    Beginning August 2014, Social Security number printouts will no longer be offered in field offices. Additionally, beginning October 2014, field offices will stop providing benefit verification letters except in emergency situations. These verifications are available online and may be obtained anytime by registering for a my Social Security account.
