Boat Excise Tax
Any vessel mooring in Boston must obtain a permit from the Harbor Master. Boat owners must pay their boat excise tax before applying for a mooring permit.

Motor Excise Tax
An excise tax is imposed on residents who register a motor vehicle or trailer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mass General Laws allow cities and towns to prepare and collect bills based on excise data sent by the Registry of Motor Vehicles in conformity with Department of Revenue requirements.

Assessing Search Tool
The Assessing Online application offers direct access to property parcel data including assessed value, location, ownership and tax information of each piece of property in the city. Property owners can also determine if they are eligible for abatements or exemptions and research property sale data.

TRAC
The Assessing Department's Taxpayer Referral & Assistance Center - known as TRAC provides "one-stop" service to Boston taxpayers on tax related matters. The TRAC office is located on the mezzanine floor of City Hall.

Earned Income Tax Credit
The Earned Income Tax Credit campaign provides low and moderate income taxpayers with free financial services. From January to April, EITC providers offer free tax preparation at 25 sites throughout the city.
