Recycling
The recycling program provides Boston residents with recycling and composting services.



  • Curbside Recycling
    City-wide weekly curbside collection of household paper, bottles, cans and plastic containers,

  • Recycling in large Buildings
    The City of Boston's Public Works Department provides free weekly recycling services to residents in large apartment buildings and condominiums. Apartment buildings and condominiums with more than six units are considered "large".

  • Yard Waste Collection
    Curbside collection of leaves and yard waste in the spring and fall, home compost bin sales and workshops.

  • Paint and Motor Oil
    Saturday drop-offs of surplus paint, stains, varnishes and used motor oil at public works yards in four neighborhoods. (Paint, which is in good condition, is made available to residents for free),

  • Household Hazardous Waste
    The City Of Boston holds Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days twice a year.

  • Single Stream Recycling Pilots
    The City of Boston is conducting "Recycle More, Trash Less" pilots to test the feasibility of collecting residential recyclables mixed together in one enclosed recycling container.
