Christmas Tree Collection - First Two FULL Weeks in January
Public Works will collect Christmas trees for composting for two weeks, beginning January 4 and ending January 15. Residents should remove all ornaments, decorations, and stands from trees and place trees at the curb on their recycling day. Do not put trees in plastic bags.

Recycle More ...Trash Less!
Boston residents no longer have to separate paper and cardboard from cans and bottles. Instead, they may mix all recyclable materials together in one large container. The City will be delivering large wheeled recycling carts throughout the upcoming year.

City-wide weekly curbside collection of household paper, bottles, cans and plastic containers.

Recycling in Large Buildings
The City of Boston's Public Works Department provides free weekly recycling services to residents in large apartment buildings and condominiums. Apartment buildings and condominiums with more than six units are considered "large".

Yard Waste Collection
Public Works will be collecting leaf and yard waste on regularly scheduled recycling days October 26th through December 4th.

Paint & Motor Oil
Saturday drop-offs of surplus paint, stains, varnishes and used motor oil at public works yards in four neighborhoods. Paint which is in good condition is made available to residents for free.

The City Of Boston holds Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days twice a year.

Compost in your own backyard or even inside your apartment. Compost bins and kitchen scrap buckets are now available to Boston residents at subsidized rates.
