Over time, when heavy damage affects both the pavement and sidewalk on a roadway, the roadway may require full reconstruction.
When reconstruction occurs, the City performs full depth roadway resurfacing, sidewalk replacement, and pedestrian access ramp repair and/or replacement.
Due to the extensive work required during reconstruction, the City must commit a large capital investment. Particular care and effort is made in coordinating reconstruction projects with all utility companies and private contractors to ensure the longevity of a reconstructed roadway.
Reconstructed roadways are expected to maintain their integrity for a minimum of twenty years.
