Asphalt resurfacing takes place in the following steps that typically take about two weeks to complete:
Construct or upgrade pedestrian access ramps and adjacent sidewalks
Mill existing roadway surface
Pave one and one-half inches for the first layer of asphalt called a leveling or intermediate course
Adjust cast iron structures, such as manholes, in the roadway
Pave remaining one and one-half inches of asphalt
Paint crosswalks, center lines, bike lanes, etc.
