City of Boston Meds by MailBack to the Affordable Prescription Drugsmain page |
The cost of prescription drugs has been steadily rising over the past few years. To save money for Boston taxpayers and our health plan enrollees, Mayor Menino launched a pilot program to allow City employees and retirees enrolled in Blue Cross Blue Shield to import less expensive prescription drugs from Canada.
Through this voluntary program, employees and retirees with Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage will be eligible to receive certain brand-name maintenance medications from a Canadian mail-order company. People who use this program will pay no co-payment for the medicines from this service. Right now, the program is available only to employees and retirees enrolled in the Blue Cross Blue Shield health plans. The Mayor wants to make sure that the plan is meeting the needs of Boston employees and retirees while also saving the City money before expanding it to all City plan members.

As mentioned above, the program is available only to employees and retirees enrolled in the Blue Cross Blue Shield health plans. If the program is available to you, you may download the enrollment forms online or request an enrollment package by calling the appropriate phone number below.
