Boston Police Cadet Examination

Exam Process Information
- You must be no less than 18 nor more than 24 years of age.
- You must be a US citizen.
- You must reside in the City of Boston
- You must have graduated (or are about to graduate) from high school or possess an equivalency certificate;
- You must be licensed to drive by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and
- You must meet the same physical fitness standards required of Boston Police recruits
Along with the distinct cadet training, benefits of the program include vacation, holiday and sick leave provisions.
Police cadets who have completed at least 2 years of service and meet the civil service requirements are
eligible for appointment to the Boston Police Department, as a police officer, under M.G.L. c.147, 21A.
Retirement credit is available for cadet service following appointment as a permanent Police Officer.
