Can I sign up by myself?
Yes! Boston Shines is a great way to give back to your neighborhood. Your Neighborhood Liaison will be happy to assign you to a project close by in your neighborhood.
What projects will I be working on?
Your Neighborhood Liaison will be setting up projects around your neighborhood. They will be working on setting up projects in parks and public spaces. Clean up could include picking up trash, sweeping and raking, light landscaping, and brush clearing.
What will the City provide on the day of Boston Shines?
The City tries to provide t-shirts, tools, and gloves for participants delivered directly to their project sites. We are always happy to accept donations of materials or money for Boston Shines.
Are there any new projects not offered in prior years?
Yes! Mayor Walsh has encouraged all residents to take pride in their neighborhoods, and specifically their streets by helping to clean the sidewalks and other public spaces on their street. If you would like to join a Sidewalk Team, please indicate that on your registration.
Can I help sponsor a project?
Interested in supporting Boston Shines, but can't commit to a project? Sponsorship opportunities are crucial for the success of this volunteer program!
Your support and enthusiasm for this program will allow thousands of volunteers to make a tangible difference in our city. Together, we will increase volunteerism and civic engagement across the city, improve the quality of life for all Boston residents, and help demonstrate our solidarity as we work together to make One Boston.
Sponsoring Boston Shines will:
- Associate your brand recognition with community service;
- Support the neighborhoods of Boston by providing the tools, flowers, paint and other means to make this event a success;
- Make a difference, specifically at the local level, benefiting the neighborhoods of Boston;
- Demonstrate to residents and volunteers in the neighborhoods that not only does your company value civic engagement, but is also invested in and concerned with the quality of life of all residents of Boston
