City of Boston to Conduct Health Insurance Dependent Eligibility Audit

A new Massachusetts law now requires governmental employers to audit eligibility for health insurance benefits every two years. To ensure that only eligible dependents are covered under its healthcare plans, the City of Boston has retained the services of HMS Employer Solutions (HMS), an independent firm, to conduct a dependent eligibility verification program. This is a common practice that helps employers make sure their plans are compliant with all applicable laws and policies. Active employees, retirees and surviving spouses of the City of Boston, the Boston Public Health Commission and the Boston Water & Sewer Commission who receive their health insurance through the City of Boston are included in this audit. Please read the attached documents for more information.
