Fleet Mechanics Achieve National Certification

Boston Fire Commissioner Roderick Fraser has appointed 49 new recruits to the Training Academy on Moon Island starting July 9, 2012. In addition, there are 4 recruits from the Quincy Fire Department and 2 from the Cohasset Fire Department that will be trained with this class. All 49 recruits for Boston are veterans of our military. They are beginning a course of study that will last 20 weeks. We wish them well and hope to see all at graduation sometime around Thanksgiving.

New Emergency Operations Dispatcher Appointed

Three New Engines Put in Service

The Boston Fire Department has put into service three new fire engines. They are Engine 7, working out of the firehouse at 200 Columbus Avenue in Park Square; Engine 14, working out of the Dudley Street in Roxbury and Engine 37, the busiest engine in the city, working out of 560 Huntington Avenue by Wentworth Institute.

These new engines were made by KME out of Pennsylvania after a competitive bid process. Each cost $416,692.00 for a total of $1,250,076.00.
