The Boston Parks and Recreation Department announced this week that Jamaica Pond Park is now WiFi accessible.
Free WiFi access is provided by entering “Boston Parks & Rec Free Wi-Fi" on a computer or handheld device in the vicinity of the boathouse and bandstand.
With the addition of this park, there are now nine Boston Parks and Recreation Department properties with the technology on-site for visitors and residents to access the Internet.
The locations where WiFi was installed previously are Boston Common, Statler Park in Park Square, Christopher Columbus Park in the North End, Ronan Park and Town Field in Dorchester, Gertrude Howes Playground in Roxbury, and the clubhouses at George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park and William Devine Golf Course in Dorchester.
WiFi access on Parks Department property is part of the City of Boston’s initiative to make access to the Internet free and available to people of all ages and incomes in the city wherever possible.
All other sites listed are connected to the City's BoNET system and provide free WiFi access by entering “City of Boston WiFi” on a computer or handheld device.
