Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Daphne Griffin, Boston’s Chief of Human Services/Executive Director of Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) are pleased to invite you to attend the Re-Opening Celebration for the BCYF Flaherty Pool in Roslindale on Tuesday, July 9th.  The Mayor will be on hand at 6:30 p.m. for the speaking program but food, activities, games and more will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Work on the pool began in November of 2012 and included a multi-million dollar renovation to the exterior of the building, all mechanical systems, the locker rooms and interior spaces, and the pool itself.  While expected to take a full year, thanks to the guidance of the City’s Property and Construction Management Department and the efforts of the general contractor, Northern Contracting, the construction project will be finished early - in time for the busy summer season.  While the pool was closed, staff and programming moved to the West Roxbury Educational Complex pool in West Roxbury.  They will return to the BCYF Flaherty Pool in time for the official re-opening.

At the Re-Opening Celebration, there will be a healthy cookout, an obstacle course inflatable, a DJ, ice cream, resource information tables, arts & crafts activities and more.
