On November 7, 2012 before family and friends, the Oath of Office was administered by Fire Commissioner Roderick Fraser to five members being promoted in rank. 

Promoted to District Fire Chief was Martin McCormack from Engine 42. Promoted to Fire Captain was Timothy Smith from Engine 53. Also promoted to Fire Captain was Thomas Farrell from Fire Prevention. He was unable to attend the ceremony and will receive his certificate and badge at a later date. 

Joining the officer ranks and promoted to Fire Lieutenant were Robert Gallagher from Engine 21, James White from Ladder 24 and Hector Rodriguez from Engine 50. Presenting their certificates and badges to them was Chief of Department Steve Abraira. Present also was the Vice-President of Boston Firefighters Local 718, Nick DiMarino.
