BOSTON – May 7, 2012 – The Boston Public Library is preparing for its annual shift to summer hours.

Sunday service at the Central Library in Copley Square continues through May 20, 2012. Sunday hours will return at the Central Library in the fall. After May 20, the Central Library will be open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Also effective after May 20 are updated hours for the Special Collections, Fine Arts, Prints, Music, and Rare Books and Manuscripts departments at the Central Library. The hours will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Sargent Gallery, Cheverus Room, and Wiggin Gallery will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Saturday service at all Boston Public Library branches continues through June 9, 2012. Saturday branch hours will return in the fall. Branch hours vary by location, but after June 9, they will be open Monday through Friday.
