The wait is over! Mayor Thomas M. Menino will join Daphne Griffin, Boston’s Chief of Human Services/Executive Director of Boston Centers for Youth & Families, and members of the Jamaica Plain Community Centers Council in officially re-opening BCYF’s Curtis Hall Community Center on Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m.
Closed for over a year, the Curtis Hall Community Center received a nearly $6 million dollar renovation which included a new roof, new boilers and controls, HVAC work, new gym floor and walking track, electrical and plumbing upgrades, masonry, painting, interior lights, parking lot resurfacing, new outside steps, new teledata equipment, furniture and equipment. An earlier phase of the renovation included work to the swimming pool.
Come check out the work and celebrate the re-opening of this important community resource. Curtis Hall is located at 20 South Street in Jamaica Plain. The re-opening festivities will include a brief speaking program followed by tours of the building, children’s activities, refreshments and more.
