Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Department of Neighborhood Development Director Evelyn Friedman will join local business owners and residents on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. to celebrate the grand openings of three new businesses in the Roslindale Village Main Street District – Marla’s Obsession, Sarida, and Redd’s in Rozzie. These businesses opened with support from the Roslindale Village Main Streets Program and the City’s Office of Business Development. The opening of these establishments marks another milestone for the thriving business district having created more than 20 new jobs.   

Since its designation as a Boston Main Streets District in 1985, Roslindale Village Main Street has guided development in Roslindale Square and along Washington Street by mobilizing hundreds of volunteers and working through partnerships with neighborhood groups, real estate developers, government, and businesses entities. In the Square and along Washington Street, Roslindale Village’s success can be seen today in new businesses, storefront improvements, residential /commercial developments, historic preservation projects, at the farmers market, and in rejuvenated open spaces.
