Mayor Thomas M. Menino today announced that 15 festive windows have moved on to Round Two in the City’s inaugural Deck the Windows of Boston Main Streets contest, a friendly competition that tests business’ creativity in three categories: best representation of local style and history, most inviting for customers, and most festive. Starting today, he said, Bostonians can vote online for their favorite 5 windows.
“We’ve had a wonderful turnout of Main Streets businesses that decorated their windows in the spirit of the season. Now Bostonians can take stock of the very best on our website and vote for their personal favorites,” said Mayor Menino. “In just a week, our group of celebrity judges will make their decisions for the top three.”
The public voting stage of the contest will conclude one week from today, at which time a panel of six local celebrity judges will review the five windows with the most votes, and select the final 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. The final three businesses be honored on Tuesday, December 21st at a holiday celebration hosted by Mayor Menino at the 1st place business.
The contest’s celebrity judge panel is made up of: Alexandra Hall, Executive Editor for the Lifestyle of Boston Magazine; Christopher Bratton, President of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Deputy Director of the Museum of Fine Arts; local fashion designer, Daniela Corte; Hao Sheng, Curator of Chinese Art at the Museum of Fine Arts; Boston Herald Fashion Editor, Jill Radsken, and Mary Richardson, former Chronicle news anchor and current community liaison for Caritas Christi Health Care System.
Contest details and a complete list of participating businesses by district can be found on the City’s website.
