Mayor Menino To Rename The Murphy Community Center Tomorrow

The Murphy Community Center, 1 Worrell Street in Dorchester, will be renamed during a special ceremony tomorrow, Saturday, October 17th at 1:30 p.m.
WHO: Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Boston Centers for Youth & Families’ Executive Director Daphne Griffin, and the Leahy-Holloran Families (the center will be re-named the Leahy-Holloran Community Center in honor of the late Brian Leahy, Michael Leahy and Joseph Holloran who spent countless hours working with the youth of Dorchester.)
WHEN: The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the speaking program beginning at 1:30 p.m.
There will be family fun for all ages, face painting, pumpkin decorating, music and more. There will also be a Holiday Shopping Spree to benefit the Murphy Pre-School childcare Program taking place in the cafeteria from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with vendors, crafts, refreshments, raffles and a bake sale.
