The Murphy Community Center, 1 Worrell Street in Dorchester, will be renamed during a special ceremony on Saturday, October 17th at 1:30 p.m. Please join Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Boston Centers for Youth & Families’ Executive Director Daphne Griffin, and the Leahy-Holloran Families as we honor the lives of Brian Leahy, Michael Leahy and Joseph Holloran.
All three of these gentleman dedicated their time and energy to helping the youth of Dorchester. At community meetings, youth sports and the Murphy Community Center, these men were involved so please help us continue their legacy by becoming involved too. Join us as the Murphy Community Center officially becomes the Leahy-Holloran Community Center!
The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the speaking program beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be family fun for all ages, face painting, pumpkin decorating, music and more! There will also be a Holiday Shopping Spree to benefit the Murphy Pre-School taking place in the cafeteria that day from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with vendors, crafts, refreshments, raffles and a bake sale.
