The City of Boston's Neighborhood Street Cleaning Program is being expanded on Boylston Street between Ipswich Street and the intersection of Boylston Street and Brookline Avenue in the Fenway. Beginning the week of July 20, this section of Boylston Street will be cleaned outbound, the first and third Wednesday of the month, from 5 AM to 7 AM, and inbound, the first and third Thursday of the month, from 5 AM to 7 AM.

The expansion of the program on Boylston Street is being implemented in cooperation with the Fenway community. Boston's Neighborhood Street Cleaning Program is a collaboration of the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services and Boston's Public Works and Transportation Departments. Streets included in the Neighborhood Street Cleaning Program are cleaned on a twice a month schedule annually from April 1 through November 30.

Drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to posted signs to avoid parking enforcement measures that are necessary for the streets to be thoroughly cleaned. Boston Parking Enforcement Officers will issue $40 parking tickets to vehicles parked in violation of the street cleaning regulations. In addition, vehicles will also be subject to towing, at a minimum cost of $90, by private tow companies on contract with the Public Works Department. Parking Enforcement Officers will be distributing flyers notifying drivers of the new regulation beginning the week of July 13, 2009.

Residents who would like to be reminded of the street cleaning parking restrictions in advance of their street's cleaning schedule may register with Boston's "No Tow" program at www.cityofboston.gov/publicworks/sweeping.
