Mayor Menino and Boston Police Patrolmen Settle on Contract Agreement
Early this morning, the City of Boston and the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association signed a tentative agreement for a four-year contract that will begin this past July and end in June of 2010. The Union represents approximately 1,400 police officers in the Boston Police Department. The contract addresses a range of issues that have been priorities for both parties. "This is a fair contract for the City and a fair contract for the Union," Mayor Menino said. Union President Tom Nee added, "We think it is balanced contract and we are going to present it to our membership and work to get it ratified." The Union Bargaining Team will present the tentative agreement to the Union's House of Representatives this Saturday. The parties have agreed to wait to release the agreement until after Saturday's meeting.
